James Wycherley
Adjudicator: Percussion 10-12 and 13-16 classes

James Wycherley studied Timpani and Percussion at the London College of Music. In 1993 he joined the Music Service staff in both Devon and Cornwall where he founded and directed the Devon Youth Percussion Ensemble. Since leaving the West Country he has worked throughout the UK and overseas as a freelance percussionist, with numerous orchestras including the RPO and Bournemouth Sinfonietta, and many Opera and Ballet companies.

As well as touring with several musicals, James has travelled the UK with artists such as Brian Conelly, Tommy Steele, Shiela Ferguson, Marti Webb, Wayne Sleep and Gary Wilmot. Most recently he completed two UK tours with Petula Clarke. Now a regular face in the West End, James has been percussionist on such shows as Scrooge, Sinatra, Porgy and Bess; and is currently resident at the Savoy Theatre with Fiddler on the Roof.
